Location: UHealth Tower - East
The critical care clinical pharmacy specialist shall carry out all duties in accordance with all state/federal laws Joint Commission standards and hospital/departmental policies and procedures. The critical care clinical specialist shall monitor the pharmaceutical care of critical care patients provide requested drug information to health care professionals and patients and participate in clinical pharmacy services such as rounding with multidisciplinary teams participating in medication utilization evaluation and providing pharmacy education to all healthcare professionals as delineated by the Department of Pharmacy. As needed the clinical specialist will be proficient in interpreting compounding and dispensing medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to telephone and written orders issued by an authorized prescriber. The primary professional responsibility of the clinical specialist is to provide pharmaceutical care: identifying assessing and solving medication related problems. Inherent in that responsibility is assisting in promoting safe efficacious and cost-effective medication therapy. The clinical specialist plans organizes and directs efforts to assist in meeting the patients pharmaceutical needs. Organizational relationships include being directly responsible to the Pharmacy Clinical Manager Director and Assistant Director of Pharmacy responsible for the supervision of pharmacy technicians and assumption of the essential responsibilities and duties to manage the department in the absence of the Clinical Manager Director and/or Assistant Director.
