Job Summary
Essential Job Responsibilities
Staff will provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
Provide team supervision including staff selection development mentoring and performance management
Engage team members and stakeholders with the Mission Vision and Values of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital
Assure appropriate staffing levels and adequate supplies and equipment for all areas of responsibility
Achieve success by meeting performance indicators standards and annual performance targets
Lead selection training and performance of staff related to assigned areas of responsibility
Responsible for assuring all staff maintain proper training related to pertinent skills competencies standards of behavior and compliance
Conduct systematic performance review of all staff
Communicate and facilitate rapport with staff that secures a highly engaged team who consistently achieves patient satisfaction score goals
Manages and provides in collaboration with the clinical team the pre-employment health assessments within ADA guidelines evaluating immunization status accommodation needs FIT testing and baseline hearing assessments as required; follow up on all pre-employment requirements for each new employee
Collect and dispose appropriately breath alcohol urine other specimens following Chain of Custody protocols for all pre-employment testing
Administer and monitor employee physician and volunteer immunization and screening programs including FIT testing Influenza Vaccination program and TB surveillance activity
Collect and dispose appropriately breath alcohol urine other specimens following Chain of Custody protocols for cause testing in accordance with Substance Abuse Policy
Create update and maintain confidential and comprehensive employee health records adhering to HIPAA guidelines including maintenance of appropriate technology platforms tools and systems
Manage appropriate processes equipment and supplies
Coordinate with HR regarding employee wellness programs including educational initiatives
Assures appropriate staff immunization and screening and record keeping at time of hire.
Annually assists with TB skin testing and immunizations as needed working in collaboration with Infection Prevention Manager Clinic and Human Resources. Provides counseling or referral as needed.
Develops and implements plans to address exposures as noted above
Manages and provides in collaboration with the clinical team the initial triage counsel evaluation and referral for health concerns of employees in a timely manner especially where occupational injury or exposure is a concern; collaborate with Medical Group Workers Compensation TPA and HR to facilitate appropriate treatment return to work light duty assignments follow up care education and leave management as appropriate
Maintain awareness and reporting requirements for:
Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MICR) as appropriate
Occupational health safety issues and required OSHA reporting requirements including 300 300A 301 logs
In collaboration with Infection Prevention evaluate infectious disease issues and employee health impact
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to Employee Health as well as implementation promotion and evaluation of educational programs and materials.
Evaluate own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards relevant statutes and regulations and maintain continuing professional nursing clinical competence in area of specialty. Serve as a role model to promote organizational excellence and safety.

Essential Job Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing
Licensure: Registered nurse in the state of Michigan
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Certified Healthcare and Safety Professional (CHSP) certification or Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or able to obtain within 5 years of employment recommended
Minimum of 3-years experience clinical experience in employee / occupational health or workers compensation case management
Broad understanding of safety and injury prevention OSHA Standards and Workers Compensation Laws
Strong skills in assessment of injuries and illness
Proficiency in the operation of computer hardware and software including Microsoft programs Outlook Jabber EMR etc.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to develop interpret adapt and adhere to guidelines and procedures
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience using EPIC and other practice management systems
Prior leadership experience
Due to possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials must be able to understand and follow department policies related
