Job Summary

Executive Director of Hospital Patient Financial Servicesat a $500M annual revenue hospital. The role oversees40 staffacross billing collections and revenue operations with compensation at$230-250K base plus 10% bonus

Role Requirements & Priorities

Top 3 Priorities (First 6-12 Months):

  • Maintain current high performance levels (53 days in AR vs. 55-day goal all KPIs at or better than target)

Lead transition to new banking relationship handling$1.2M daily collectionswithout disruption to cash posting

Team Structure:

  • 5 direct reports: 3 managers (contracted AR with 13 staff non-contracted AR/customer service with 9 staff operations/revenue integrity with 7 staff) 1 coordinator 1 trainer/educator
  • Total department size: approximately 40 people

Biggest Challenge:

Denials managementis primary concern consistent with national industry-wide trend affecting commercial payers

Candidate Profile Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • Stable work history- no pattern of 2-year tenures no moving around on resume must have demonstrated longevity at previous organizations (8-9 years preferred)
  • Hospital revenue cycle experience at similar scale preferred but not mandatory
  • Strongcommunication and business social skills- ability to conduct meetings participate effectively listen fully before responding
  • Proactive problem-solver who escalates issues early rather than waiting for executive intervention

Management Style Fit:

  • Must be self-sufficient and accountable - CFO Wah-Chung does not micromanage high-performing departments
  • Expected to be eyes and ears of department addressing issues before escalation
  • Comfortable managing large team without constant oversight

Open to:

  • Hungry manager with strong progression trajectory in addition to current directors
  • Candidates without exact hospital size match if otherwise qualified

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $230000 - $250000
  • Bonus: Up to 10% based on KPI performance
  • No relocation assistance- policy limited to VP-level positions only
  • Position posted as hourly due to California disclosure laws but is salaried
