Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and licensed Special Education Teacher (SPED) to provide instructional and behavioral support within a center-based classroom setting in Thornton Colorado. This full-time contract role requires expertise in individualized instruction IEP implementation and differentiated learning strategies for students with diverse academic and developmental needs.
The Special Education Teacher will support student achievement by developing and delivering standards-based instruction aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) monitoring measurable progress and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop implement and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Provide differentiated instruction aligned with student learning goals
Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation
Support students with academic behavioral social and emotional needs
Utilize behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and classroom management strategies
Collaborate with general education teachers paraprofessionals therapists and parents
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
Ensure compliance with IDEA state regulations and district policies
Maintain a structured inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Required Qualifications
Active Colorado Special Education Teaching License
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Experience in center-based or self-contained classroom settings preferred
Strong knowledge of IEP development progress monitoring and data collection
Experience working with students with diverse learning disabilities and behavioral needs
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with behavioral intervention strategies
Knowledge of differentiated instruction and adaptive curriculum design
Familiarity with educational technology and data tracking systems
