Philanthropy Coordinator Meany Center for the Performing Arts

Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington Seattle is one of the regions premier performing arts presenting organizations and together with its university and community partners Meany Center fosters innovative performances that advance public engagement cultural exchange creative research and learning through the arts. Meany Center provides opportunities for diverse artists community students and faculty to connect in the discovery and exploration of the boundless power of the arts to create positive change in the world. Located in the heart of the UW Campus Meany Center serves as the primary performance space for the Universitys academic programs in Dance Music Digital Arts and Experimental Media Drama and for the Meany Center Visiting Artist Program.

Meany Center for the Performing Arts has an outstanding opportunity for a Philanthropy Coordinator. The Philanthropy Coordinator plans oversees and implements all aspects of individual donor relations and annual giving annual fund campaigns and a wide variety of donor cultivation and stewardship events including Meany Centers annual fundraising gala.

Under the direction of Meany Centers Director of Philanthropy this position is responsible for implementing advancement efforts designed to maintain and expand the donor base as well as increase private individual giving support for Meany Centers mission to serve our diverse communities. A strong candidate will think strategically to help develop and execute advancement efforts to grow existing private individual donor support as well as attract new support in line with Meany Centers fundraising priorities and strategic plan.

This position reports to Meany Centers Director of Philanthropy and works collaboratively with the fundraising teams Senior Philanthropy Officer and Grants & Community Relations Manager in addition to other Meany Center staff and departments UW College of Arts & Sciences and UW Central Advancement.

Main job duties and responsibilities include:

Individual Giving and Donor Relations

  • Work with the Director of Philanthropy to develop strategies and implement Meany Centers Individual Giving Program including annual giving campaigns throughout the performance season with a goal of raising over $300K annually. This includes coordinating direct annual appeal mailings and digital/social media giving campaigns coordinating annual donor benefits creating and sending fundraising email blasts and serving as a Meany Center liaison with UW Giving.

  • Assist in cultivating and stewarding donors through planning and implementing exclusive behind-the-scenes donor experiences and high-touch stewardship and cultivation engagements outreach programs and activities.

Gala Coordination

  • Coordinate all aspects of Meany Centers annual fundraising gala responsible for raising 40% of Meanys annual fundraising goal. This position is also responsible for the post-gala donor and vendor follow-up gift invoicing and final reporting.

Event Planning

  • Plan implement and oversee 35 pre-show intermission and post-show Meany donor events artist meet-and-greets donor dinners auction events and other special events. Includes but is not limited to coordinating annual donor benefits planning negotiating and facilitating event catering venues permits as well as designing and sending digital and/or print invitations and procuring event needs.

  • Serve as a face of Meany Center at donor events and activities as appropriate.


Gift Processing and Database Management

  • Facilitate all gift processing and donor acknowledgements while maintaining accurate donor records in Tessitura and UW Tandem donor and patron databases.

  • Report and analyze giving totals and progress against goals and giving trends. Utilize this information to strategize and improve donor appeal campaigns and Meanys Individual Giving Program.

  • Update donor listings in Encore Programs website print and social media. Generate and send accurate and timely donor acknowledgements letters and follow-up on unfulfilled pledges as well as update donor contact and personal data in both Tessitura and UW Advance.

Perform related duties as needed and assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent education/experience.

  • Two years of experience in fundraising and/or event planning/experience working with donors patrons campus entities and interdepartmental staff.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent verbal organizational and written skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Possess excellent computer and database management skills; MS Excel proficiency.

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.

  • Ability to regularly work evenings and weekends.

  • Some over-time may be required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UW Advance and ReportWriter donor database and reporting systems.

  • Knowledge of Tessitura ticketing and donor database.

  • Experience with PivotTables and complex data lookup and reference functions.

  • Dedicated to the Arts with interest or background in music dance or theater.

$47448.00 annual
