Senior Design Drafter SubstationUtility (MicroStation)

PTS Advance has and immediate need for an experienced design drafter with MicroStation and experience in electrical and controls PG&E background preferred.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Senior Design Drafter to support electric utility infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have 35 years of CAD drafting experience with a strong emphasis on Bentley MicroStation and direct experience working with PG&E standards and processes. The candidate will translate engineer redlines into detailed 2D/3D drawings for substation facilities transmission lines and gas facilities ensuring compliance with both technical standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting & Design:Develop and revise detailed CAD drawings for electrical substations transmission lines and distribution infrastructure using Bentley MicroStation.
• PG&E Standards Compliance:Prepare construction drawings (plans elevations sections) that strictly adhere to PG&E CAD standards including PG&E as-built formats gas layouts and joint trench drawings.
• Substation Design:Produce Electrical Substation design drawings for indoor/outdoor equipment (RTUs relays transformers breakers) using MicroStation.
• Project Documentation:Create schematic layouts material lists site plans and conduit/grounding drawings from engineer sketches.
• Quality Control:Review drawings created by other staff for accuracy quality and adherence to design standards.
• Project Coordination:Coordinate with project team members including civil and protection engineers to ensure design efficiency and resolve field conflicts.
  

Required Qualifications

• Experience:Minimum of 35 years of CAD drafting/design experience within the utility or electric infrastructure industry.
• Software Proficiency:Proven expert-level proficiency in Bentley MicroStation.
• PG&E Experience:Direct demonstrated experience working with PG&E electric utility standards and construction practices.
• Technical Knowledge:Ability to read/interpret engineering redlines land surveys and mapping documents.
• Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred Requirements

• Associate degree in CAD Drafting or a related technical field experience.
