JOB SUMMARY:Facilitate educational/career decision-making skills among students grades 6-8 through effective counseling planning consulting appraisal and information/placement services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors in human services business social science or education
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Regular and predictable attendance.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to teach advise mentor and collaborate face-to-face and virtually with a wide range of learners and stakeholders (students parents colleagues business partners)
- Experience in youth development
- Willingness to earn the Global Career Development Facilitator certificate or comparable credential within the 1st year of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct appropriate individual and group career guidance activities (i.e. career competencies career exploration and career decision-making).
- Administer career assessments and aptitude tests to help students gain insights into their strengths and interests.
- Assist students in exploring and researching different career options industries and educational requirements.
- Collaborate with school counselors with general educational planning/transitioning activities for students.
- Conduct workshops and activities to develop students employability skills such as communication problem-solving and time management.
- Collaborate with teachers administrators and parents to create a supportive and inclusive school environment for career development.
- Works collaboratively with the Upper Shore Workforce Investment Board with scheduling career exploration trips and community events.
- Attend professional learning workshops in-service training and attend career and college seminars organized in collaboration with CCPS and USWIB.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
