Software at TI usually refers to embedded software (such as device firmware device peripheral drivers software frameworks algorithms etc.) and the related software development tools (compilers simulators demo software IDEs etc.)

Software engineers are critical to our whole-product offerings. We rely on them to ensure our products are easy to use and customers can get our products up and running quickly. To do that they partner closely with our product development and demand creation teams on pre-silicon software design and requirements as well as software validation and test activities. They also have an eye for backwards and cross-compatibility and reuse to ensure we are as efficient as possible.

In addition software engineers might work directly with customers on any issues that arise and deliver on-going support along with regular software releases which includes quality assurance and release management activities.

As a Software Engineer some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Requirements definition design development test integration and support of embedded software (e.g. operating system software device drivers software frameworks algorithmic libraries etc.) and software development tools (compilers simulators IDEs etc.)
  • Following established software development methodology and practices defined for the business
  • Developing and applying machine learning algorithms to edge applications which may include using AI coding assistant to develop embedded software
  • Supporting pre-silicon design and requirements as well as software validation activities
  • Impacting hardware architecture requirements from a software usage compatibility performance and reuse potential perspectives
  • Using the most up to date coding languages conducting server analysis and reporting infrastructure
  • Creating and maintaining customer collateral for software products and deliverables
  • Working closely with TI teams (silicon hardware software teams) and customers as part of the normal software life-cycle
  • Quality assurance and configuration/release management


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • 4 years of relative engineering or research experience

  • Strong Embedded firmware skills and experience
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python with signal processing applications
  • Programming knowledge in C/C (or other systems programming languages)
  • Strong Assembly programming skills
  • ITAR Restriction:All candidates for this ITAR restricted position must be one of the following: US Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident Asylee Refugee or otherwise lawfully admitted under an amnesty program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD. Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of software engineering processes and the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience with advanced signal processing algorithms including filter design FFTs FIRs beamforming linear algebra 3D mesh processing voxel processing and computer vision algorithms.
  • Experience with sensor inputs such as Radar LiDAR CMOS sensors and Cameras.
  • Proven ability to optimize code on DSPs (C66x C7x) with in-depth understanding of their architecture.
  • Experience optimizing data movement within multi-level memory systems (Level 2 Level 3 and Level 4) and inter processor communication.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as Claude for code generation.
  • Experience with open-source graph compilers like TVM or ExecuTorch.
  • Comfort working with mathematical formulas and derivations.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented approach.
  • Solid foundation in digital signal processing estimation and detection theory probability/statistics and linear algebra.
