JOB GOAL:

Natick Public Schools Summer Strength and Conditioning Coaches will support students who are participating in a 7 week program.



QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Experience in weight room fitness center training facility
  • Knowledge of Olympic and Powerlifting Movements
  • Knowledge of appropriate running form and mechanics
  • Team-Member and willing to work within the unit towards a common goal
  • Able to function with a decentralized leadership model and able to make decisions that fit within the greater goal of the program.

Professional Certification:

  • Former High School or Collegiate Athlete
  • Current Sports Coach at the High School or Middle School Level
  • Teacher Paraprofessional or Staff Member in District
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Additional Certifications desired such as USAW CSCS etc.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity equity inclusion and social justice as they relate to student engagement
  • Knowledge of Olympic and Powerlifting Movements
  • Knowledge of appropriate running form and mechanics

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Google Suite (Drive Docs Sheets Slides Classroom etc.) and PowerSchool preferred but will train the right candidate
  • Former High School or Collegiate Athlete
  • Current Sports Coach at the High School or Middle School Level

Skills:

  • Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
  • Bilingual skills especially in Spanish and Portuguese are highly desirable
  • Candidates should have a passion for working with students families and colleagues
  • Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
  • Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced supportive environment that nurtures student growth
  • Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing time-sensitive deadlines for work production

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state certification requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (not limited to)

  • Follow training protocols as prescribed by the program director for weight room and field running
  • Function as a session leader and ensure that student-athletes workout in a safe and efficient manner both in the weight room and on the field
  • Utilize the prescribed attendance and roster protocols at the start and end of each session to ensure that all registered students are present and accounted for
  • Emphasize instruct and critique appropriate techniques for weight lifting (Olympic Power Auxiliary) movements as well as running mechanics
  • Arrive on time to work each day with a positive and open mind
  • Assist with the set-up and breakdown of the equipment each day
  • Function as a mentor for the programs collegiate assistant coaches by means of offering instruction guidance and tips for improvement.

Any other relative duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

  • Lift up to 135 pounds when setting up weight room materials cleaning up from the day and when spotting student-athletes
  • Accurately instruct proper olympic powerlifting and auxiliary lifting techniques
  • Positively support student athletes with verbal praise and encouragement as well as offer critiques to improve performance
  • Instruct and demonstrate lifting techniques and running mechanics
  • Support student-athletes as a spotter to ensure safety in the weight room
  • Manage small group models to ensure student-athletes efficiently move through prescribed programming models
  • Function within one of the following settings: Working within the weight room at Natick High School working within the gymnasium at Natick High School or working on one of the Natick High School fields during running drills.
  • Move about the classroom fitness center school school grounds office and/or off-site locations.
    • On some occasions it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces;
  • Remain in a stationary position for periods of time;
  • Operate a computer and other school/office productivity machinery
  • Read material from a computer monitor as well as handwritten or printed matter with or without visual aids;
  • Position oneself to maintain files and access school/classroom/office materials;
  • Communicate with others so that information received and given is understood and accurately communicated;
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with students parents and other staff members in person via video conference on the telephone and/or in writing;
  • Cbserve details at close range
  • Ithe school setting ensure the safety of students;
  • Multitask and meet multiple demands from several people;
  • the noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as a supervisor within a decentralized leadership model to our college assistant coaches (Head coaches should ensure assistant coaches understand roles and responsibilities and carry out the necessary tasks accordingly.)
  • Function as a supervisor within a decentralized leadership model to our social media intern as necessary should the program director not be available.
