Job Position: Senior Fabrication Technician Job Duration: Fulltime Job Location: El Segundo CA
We are seeking a Senior Fabrication Technician who will have the opportunity to apply a wide range of skills while fabricating and assembling a development microreactor unit.
In this role you will be instrumental in building both large and small-scale test rigs creating prototype parts and tooling sourcing tools to execute builds and supporting material handling. You will be an early member of a foundational technician team requiring a high degree of autonomy ownership and initiative.
Responsibilities
Fabricate piece parts to print using shop equipment (mill lathe welders metal forming tools hand tools etc.)
Own the assembly and commissioning of test rigs and production builds
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis across mechanical electrical thermal and pneumatic systems
Collaborate with engineers to improve hardware design fabrication and assembly processes
Maintain high standards of safety reliability and cleanliness
Support additional tasks as needed in a fast-moving team-oriented environment
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
5 years of fabrication or assembly experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances
Ability to read and interpret fluid and electrical schematics
Experience with manufacturing tools (machine tools saws grinders etc.)
Ability to use inspection tools for parts and assemblies
Physically capable of standing lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs unassisted
Comfortable working outdoors as needed
Ability to work at heights (ladders scissor lifts etc.)
Willingness to travel occasionally for offsite support
Desired Qualifications
Experience with high-pressure and high-temperature systems
MIG and TIG welding experience
CNC programming and manual machining experience
GD&T interpretation
Experience with electrical components and high-voltage systems
Experience working safely in shop environments
Experience with rigging and crane operations
Proficiency with basic computer tools (email Microsoft Office)
