Tool Room Machinist

Location: Surgoinsville TN

Description

We are a growing steel forging manufacturer with an in-house tool shop. We are seeking skilled CNC Operators / CNC Machinists / Toolmakers to join our team.

Successful candidates will have the ability to troubleshoot CNC programs for issues and errors and possess a strong mathematical background. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment throughout the tool shop.

The CNC Operator will also assist in the development of programming maintenance procedures and manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines including lathes mills and EDM equipment
Troubleshoot CNC programs and resolve machining issues
Assist in developing CNC programs and improving machining processes
Support maintenance procedures and manufacturing best practices
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and gauges

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of machining experience OR
- Technical degree in machining/manufacturing OR
- Completion of a Toolmaker apprenticeship
Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
Experience setting up and operating CNC machines (lathe mills EDM)
Ability to troubleshoot CNC programs
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers gauges etc.)
CAD experience is a plus
