Electrical Engineer IV

Your Roles/Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed electrical design and development of embedded control systems in support of the following Acutronic product lines:
  • Actuation Systems
  • Turbo Generators
  • Power Generation Conversion and Distribution
  • Micro-thrust Turbines
• Support proposal efforts in a fast-paced aerospace environment:
  • Assess customer system level requirements
  • Develop derived requirements
  • Produce requirements compliance matrix
  • Generate engineering models of proposed designs with substantiating analysis balancing rigor and speed
  • Contribute to estimating recurring and non-recurring costs
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules
• Develop detailed system performance models using MATLAB/SIMULINK (or equivalent)
• Allocate system requirements to components and subsystems
• Architect embedded electronic systems based on end item and derived requirements in support of the following Acutronic product lines:
  • Actuation Systems
  • Turbo Generators
  • Power Generation Conversion and Distribution
  • Micro-thrust Turbines
• Mentor more junior engineers on the electronic systems team in support of the growth and success of the electronic systems team
• Participate in activities that support the growth and development of the electronic systems team including standardization of design activities workflows reviews and knowledge transfer
• Design and develop electronic hardware cradle to grave including component selection schematic capture simulation PCB/A layout and all supporting analyses:
  • Brushless DC Motor control (Trap FOC) using Real-time MCU/DSP technology
  • Power electronics for motor control active rectification DC-DC conversion and distribution
  • Integration of various sensors used in closed loop control systems (resolver VDT pressure current HED)
  • Analog front end conditioning for various sensors
• Assist in designing and developing firmware and software to support the systems/technologies mentioned above
• Perform hands on bring up integration and troubleshooting of embedded control and power generation systems
• Design and develop test stands fixtures and procedures for the validation/verification of embedded electronics
• Perform validation and verification of product requirements
• Prepare documentation in support of customer and internal deliverables (reports presentations)
• Perform in depth analysis of complex embedded electronic systems and prepare documentation in support of communicating context and results of analysis

Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Electronics or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university required Masters Degree in Engineering preferred
• At least twelve years of relevant hardware experience designing and developing:
  • Motor controls and electromechanical control systems
  • Power conditioning and distribution systems (2kW)
  • Systems with common aerospace communication interfaces (RS-485/RS-422 CAN etc.)
  • Real-time systems
• Experience with:
  • Navigating firmware in embedded electronic systems
  • Failure investigation and formal RCCA activities
  • Safety and reliability assessment (MTBF/FTA etc.)
  • Aerospace configuration management and control
  • Prior experience working in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment preferred
  • 10-15% domestic travel required to support customer / supplier visits
