Job Summary

VHIRs offers a position as a Research Technician within the Neurovascular Research Group. Our lab focuses on stroke research and dementia from both basic and translational perspectives. The group is composed of a highly motivated team of researchers and neuroscientists. This position will give support to several experimental studies related to stroke disease within the PReDICT Project to investigate the genetic basis of paediatric stroke and participating in a multicentre consortium.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Perform cell culture and 3D in vitro models.

  • Collect process and store samples for downstream analyses.

  • Conduct molecular biology experiments including ELISA Western blotting (WB) immunofluorescence and other molecular and cellular biology techniques.

  • Analyse data including statistical evaluation using GraphPad Prism SPSS or equivalent software.

  • Prepare scientific reports interpreting experimental results.

  • Collaborate effectively within a research team contributing to experimental planning and troubleshooting.

Education and qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Neuroscience Health Sciences or similar (Biology Biomedicine Pharmacology etc.)

  • Masters degree in Neuroscience or Biotechnology.

  • Fluent English

Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • Proven experience with cell culturing techniques including BBB models and brain endothelial cells.

  • Expertise in conducting BBB transport and permeability assays.

  • Previous experience in a biomedical research laboratory (excluding practicum or curricular internships) with a minimum of 12 months.

  • Organisational and teamwork skills: Strong organisational and methodological abilities proactive attitude and proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:
  • Computer and statistical skills proficient in statistical analysis using GraphPad Prism SPSS or equivalent software.

Labour conditions:

  • Working hours: Full-time (375 hours per week).

  • Starting date: Mid-June.

  • Gross annual salary: 22.000-25.000 (Remuneration will be determined by experience skills and responsibilities and aligned with the Collective Agreement pay scale)

  • Contract type: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to project activities

    • Duration until 31/12/2026.
