The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

As an intern you will contribute to Project Second Life an initiative focused on increasing circularity for laboratory furniture and components at Roche sites in Basel and Kaiseraugst. The project aims to create a structured and scalable reuse system for high-quality lab furniture from renovations by improving inventory transparency evaluation processes and internal redistribution. Within your first 3 months you are expected to help deliver a verified digital inventory support the integration of additional storage sites refine circular processes for collection and redistribution and create communication materials that promote reuse across key target groups. Your work will help reduce waste conserve resources improve cost efficiency and increase the availability of tested furniture without long procurement lead times. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability operations and digitalization with visible impact on circular economy practices.

The Opportunity

  • Support the recording and validation of laboratory furniture and component inventories across storage sites existing stock and new storage locations

  • Prepare structure and digitize data such as photos specifications and storage information for the central database

  • Assess stored items and help create decision-making criteria for storage redistribution sale or disposal

  • Contribute to the development of a verified and categorized digital catalog of available materials

  • Help identify and integrate additional storage sites into the central inventory system

  • Create high-quality presentations and information kits for internal committees and stakeholder groups

  • Promote the reuse concept among planners laboratory construction teams and users to strengthen acceptance and adoption

  • Document optimized processes for collection inspection and redistribution as part of the refined circularity concept

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your studies at a university preferably in the field of Sustainability and Environmental Sciences or Industrial Engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.

Furthermore you are

  • Able to understand document and improve logistical and operational processes

  • Careful and structured in inventory validation quality checks and data management

  • Interested in circular economy principles resource conservation and practical sustainability solutions

  • Comfortable working with databases and digital tools and highly proficient in common presentation and documentation software

  • A clear communicator with good German skills and English knowledge
