The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

As an intern you will contribute to Compleasy an AI-powered supplier due diligence and ESG intelligence project designed to strengthen sustainability and risk transparency across Roches global value chain. The project aims to automate the analysis of unstructured supplier data identify humanitarian and ecological risks and support audit-ready legally robust ESG reporting in a trusted data environment. Within your first 3 months you are expected to help deliver a proof of concept for AI-based ESG KPI extraction a gap analysis of a Compliance Command Center tailored to Roches supplier risk categories a risk visualization dataset and an implementation roadmap for integration with existing systems. You will also support benchmarking key suppliers against Science Based Targets and Roche standards to identify emissions-related risk in the supply chain. Your work will contribute to more sustainable sourcing stronger compliance readiness and more resilient supply chain decision-making. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of AI sustainability and global supply chain transformation.

The Opportunity

  • Develop a proof of concept for an AI document scanner that extracts ESG KPIs from supplier audit reports and related documents

  • Conduct a gap analysis of the Compliance Command Center for Roche-specific supplier risk categories and reporting needs

  • Work with RAG-based AI approaches to automate the identification of humanitarian and ecological risks in the supply chain

  • Process unstructured supplier files such as PDFs audits and certificates and help convert them into structured actionable insights

  • Map global supplier network clusters to support regional risk visualization for example for pharmaceutical ingredients or medical device components

  • Create a technical implementation roadmap for integrating the AI scanner with Roches existing ERP and GRC systems

  • Benchmark suppliers against Science Based Targets and Roche sustainability standards

  • Contribute to a benchmark report and digital tool that identifies suppliers not yet aligned with a 1.5C pathway and highlights emissions-related risk for Roche

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Masters or PhD studies at a university preferably in the field of Computer Science with a focus on AI or NLP Supply Chain Management Environmental Law ESG / Sustainability or Engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.

Furthermore you are

  • Experienced with AI or RAG-based systems and comfortable processing unstructured data such as PDF documents

  • Proficient in Python and interested in data extraction automation and risk analysis

  • Familiar with ESG or supply chain regulations such as CSDDD or BAFA and interested in sustainable sourcing and supplier due diligence

  • Comfortable with data visualization and able to turn complex findings into practical insights

  • A detail-oriented independent and collaborative problem solver with strong English skills; German is a plus
