Transport Officer

Mega Bus is seeking a Transport Officer to join the operation in Kathu Northern Cape. Duties will include:

• Ensure 100% fleet and driver availability.
• Ensure 100% fleet cleanliness and maintenance in line with workshop
  service schedules.
• Controlling of shifts and oversee overtime work allocations.

Operational Planning and Scheduling.

• Coordinating daily bus schedules to align with shift changes.
• Optimizing routes to reduce costs and travel time by monitoring on board computers and driver behaviors.
• Planning vehicle driver rosters attendance and allocation.
• Ensuring fleet is compliant and clean according to required standards by introducing wash register and auditing this.

Safety and Compliance (Mining Environment): (2.9.2)

• Ensuring compliance with mining site regulations safety protocols and National Land Transport Act.
• Monitoring driver alertness and conducting risk management on routes.
• Ensuring vehicles are cimpliant authorised nad safe (COF checks).
• Ensuring immediate reporting of accidents theft and incidents.
• Conducting daily/weekly inspections of vehicles.
• Overseeing fuel consumption kilometer tracking and logbook entries.

Staff Supervision and Administration

• Supervising drivers and staff including performance management.
• Compiling daily weekly or monthly transport reports for management.

Logistics Coordination

• Acting as the liaison between the mine department transport staff and service providers.
• Facilitating transportation for staff between accomodation airport and mine site.

Reporting

• Reports to the operations manager or appointed person inlclusive of the 2.6.1

• Grade 12.
• Relevant Diploma or Certificate in Logistics or Transport Management.
• Valid Drivers Licence/Code 14 license with valid PRDP would be an advantage.
• Previous experience in fleet management preferable in the mining or commercial transport sector.
• Computer literacy.
• Strong understanding of SA road transport laws and safety regulations.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good communication skills
