Underwriter, International Brokers, Singapore Distribution Division

Essential Requirements:

Minimum A-Levels or Polytechnic Diploma certification
Minimum 3 years experience in General Insurance broking or underwriting
Preferably with knowledge of Commercial Insurance
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Keen learner and a self-starter with ability to work independently
Positive attitude and ability to handle challenges
Proficient in Microsoft Applications
Hold professional certificate in General Insurance (CGI PGI BCP etc)
Ability to work on relevant PC applications.

Job Summary:

This role primarily manages the Commercial Business Packages Scheme and other commercial lines which will involve developing good relationships with a mixture of brokers and small portfolio of direct clients performing underwriting within agreed processes and risk appetites and with senior direction and guidance achieving business development and retention targets.
You will spend the majority of your time delivering underwriting decisions referring cases outside personal authority limits supporting the AVP Singapore Distribution Division Intl Brokers in maintaining the service level of the scheme and ensuring sustainability of the scheme. You will also assist in managing Open Market business and need to have strong relationship management and communication skills.

Job Duties:

Overall management of day-to-day underwriting ensuring a quick turnaround
Work closely with Assistant Vice President and Senior Underwriter Singapore Distribution Division Brokers and relevant Portfolio Managers to ensure profitability of the business
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers
Drive pipelines of new business and maintain high retention
Review allocated cases and deliver underwriting decisions following agreed processes at the designated authority level and with the necessary senior direction and support in order to secure profitable business within the agreed risk appetite.
Generate reports to measure business performance
Involved in ad-hoc projects when required
