Job Summary
Unit Role: DIO OS&Trg Region is responsible for managing the Defence Training Estate (DTE) enabling Defence and other authorised users to train for and meet their operational liabilities maintaining a safe and legal estate.
Position Role: The SNCO Ops/Urban is responsible for supporting the TSO/DTSO in ensuring the training facilities allocated in support of Live Firing Marksmanship Training (LFMT) Live Firing Tactical Training (LFTT) and Fieldcraft Training Areas (FTA) are safe to use. The TSM will work closely with the Training Deliver Unit to ensure the Safe Place is delivered maintained and enhanced
Responsibilities: 1. Act as liaison officer between DIO staff and the Training Delivery Unit 2. Assurance of the safe place in accordance with DSA 03 OME Part 3 (Defence Code of Practice for Ranges (formerly JSP 403)) JSP 375 Vol 2 Leaflet 11 (Safety in Military Training and Exercises) to the training areas. 3. Help to ensure that the facilities allocated are suitable for the safe delivery of training and infrastructure defects are reported tracked and actioned. 4. Help to maintain Range and FTA documentation including an action plan to address areas of concern; site specific Risk Assessments and Range/FTA Standing Orders (SOs). Where applicable they are to support production of a Daily Safety Summary and ensure this is communicated to the user. 5. Conduct and support all mandatory range and training area inspections. 6. Support the coordination of monthly safety and deconfliction meetings. 7. Assist in ensuring the safe access and safety of authorised civilians and livestock from the hazards associated with or resulting from all training activities. 8. Ensure that all reasonable precautions are taken to safeguard the public both inside and outside the range boundary. 9. Provide support in Air Safety Management (ASM) issues or enquiries where applicable. accidents and incidents including incursions and near misses on the estate in accordance with regulations and policy. 11. Support liaison with the Emergency Services to conduct/record annual incident/accident practice drills. 12. Monitor user OME holdings on the Range/FTA IAW SOs. 13 Support maintenance of the ecological and environmental sustainability of the estate consistent with environmental regulations and policy. 14. Deputise for the DTSO |
Domestic Considerations: This role will have some requirement to operate above 48 hrs in any 17 weeks and may require weekend work
