We are seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Design & Technology (D&T) Teacher to join a forward-thinking department in Manchester. As the birthplace of the industrial revolution and a modern leader in Industry 4.0 Manchester provides an unparalleled backdrop for teaching design. We are looking for an educator who can master traditional workshop skills while leading the way in digital manufacturing and sustainable design.


Core Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Planning and facilitating high-quality D&T lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with the opportunity to lead A-Level Product Design or Fashion & Textiles for qualified candidates.

  • Workshop Leadership: Providing expert instruction in the safe use of hand tools machinery and materials (woods metals and polymers) ensuring a rigorous culture of health and safety.

  • CAD/CAM Innovation: Integrating modern technology into the design process including 2D Design SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 alongside 3D printing and laser cutting.

  • GCSE & A-Level Preparation: Guiding students through the Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) process supporting them from initial design briefs and iterative prototyping to high-quality final manufactured products.

  • Sustainable Design: Teaching students to consider the environmental impact of their work focusing on the 6 Rs material life cycles and ethical manufacturing processes.

  • Pastoral Care: Serving as a dedicated Form Tutor fostering a supportive community and monitoring the academic and personal development of a specific group of learners.

Candidate Profile
