Details of Organisation The University Royal Naval Units are under the Command of The Commander Maritime Reserves (CMR) and are headquartered In Leach Building Whale Island Portsmouth. The Commanding Officer University Royal Naval Units (CO URNU) commands the URNUs on behalf of CMR. URNU Headquarters (URNU HQ) comprises: CO URNU OF4 (CAPPS) Chief of Staff URNU (COS URNU) OF3 (CAPPS) URNU Business Manager (URNU BM) C2 Deputy Chief of Staff URNU (DCOS URNU) OF2 (CAPPS) URNU Staff Coxswain (USC) OR7 (AWW / AWT) URNU Admin Officer Each of the 16 physical URNUs is a lodger unit of another MOD establishment with URNU Virtual operated by the staff of URNU Belfast with its students assigned to the geographically closest URNU. The 16 URNUs are divided between two regions. Each region has a regional headquarters commanded by an Officer Commanding (OC) supported by an Operations Officer (Ops) and a Regional Coordinator (Reg Coord). URNU North comprises the following sub-units: URNU Northern Ireland (Belfast and Virtual) URNU Scotland (East Scotland and Glasgow) URNU Northeast England (Northumbria and Yorkshire) and URNU Northwest England (Manchester and Liverpool). URNUs South comprises the following sub-units: URNU Midlands (Birmingham and East Midlands) URNU Southeast England (London and Cambridge) URNU Southwest England (Bristol and Devon) URNU Southcentral England (Solent and Oxford) and URNU Wales. |
Purpose To provide cohesive regionallevel coordination administration and assurance in support of the OC and ROpsO South group enabling the effective delivery of URNU activity routine business and consistent administrative standards across all URNUs within the South Region. The Regional Coordinator delivers throughlife support to Training Officers leads the administrative planning and execution of regional events maintains organisational continuity and acts as a critical link with Regional Support Units and RAOs to promote cohesion standardisation and logistical readiness across the region. Chain-of-Command The Chain-of-Command (CoC) for the RCoord URNUs South is: ROpsO South (1RO) OC South (2RO) CO URNU (3RO if required) Authority RCoord has functional authority over Training Officers RAOs and volunteers for the purposes of coordinating administrative and URNU activityrelated outputs. Authority to liaise directly with RSUs URNU stakeholders for the purpose of URNU core business URNU HQ and host establishments on behalf of Regional HQ where delegated. They have no authority over OiCs or Coxns; coordination only. |

Regional Administrative Support & Event Delivery |
Lead administrative delivery for regional training and engagement activity mirroring RAOtype functions at regional level. |
RSU & Logistics Liaison |
Act as Regional HQ link with RSUs for checks audits logistics and compliance monitoring. |
Support of RAOs |
Provide functional linkage to Unit RAOs ensuring consistent processes and outputs across the region. |
Support to Units |
Support the Regional HQ team with regional visits to provide administrative and training assurance and continuity of support. |
Regional Business Support |
Prepare dashboards trackers and management information for ROpsO in line with OC South intent. |
