Apprentice Electrical Engineer

The Apprentice will develop core engineering skills while studying towards a recognised and accredited engineering degree. Working alongside experienced engineers the apprentice will gain hands-on experience in electrical design documentation testing and problem-solving within a highly regulated marine engineering environment.

What you will be doing

Engineering Learning & Development

• Work under supervision to learn the fundamentals of electrical engineering marine systems and industry standards.
• Show enthusiasm for participating in engineering manufacturing projects and service functions.
• Complete all apprenticeship academic requirements assignments and assessments on schedule.

Electrical Design & Documentation

• Assist in producing electrical schematics simple wiring diagrams and layout drawings using 2D CAD tools.
• Support the creation and updating of 2D drawings 3D models and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Help produce engineering documentation such as reports manuals test procedures and change notes.

Engineering Activities

• Perform engineering calculations and data collection
• Participate in design reviews.
• Assist in troubleshooting and problemsolving.

Project & Process Support

• Contribute to estimating and delivering work packages.
• Apply company processes QMS and change control.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Support tender activities.

We think you should have

Minimum Requirements

• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above).
• Level 3 qualification or higher. Ideally in engineering or related field
• Eligibility for enrolment on a Degree Apprenticeship programme.
• 96 UCAS Points

Minimum Skills

• Strong interest in electrical engineering.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Clear and confident communication.
• Positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable Skills

• Basic familiarity with CAD tools.
• Prior technical experience through college projects or extracurricular activities.
• Understanding basic electrical principles.
