Job Summary

Subject to formal establishment amendment a vacancy will arise for a WO or FS (Any Profession) to serve as RAF Regional Education and Learning Support at RTS RAF Halton on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 07 September 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status and formal establishment amendment).

This is an exciting opportunity to help our new recruits who may be facing learning challenges to reach their full potential.

While operating as a line manager and centre lead for EEF FS-WO RELS plays a crucial role in delivering the RAFs model of support for Functional Skills (FS) and Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) / neurodiversity during Phase 1 training. FS-WO RELS will provide support to trainees with SpLDs and Functional skills needs and provide specialist advice to key stakeholders including Apprenticeship Centre Managers and Apprenticeship Continuous Improvement Team.

FS-WO RELS will have the opportunity to develop positive and supportive mentoring relationships with trainees who require extra support in their Phase 1 training and have the very latest FS & SpLD related technology at their disposal.

Post incumbents will possess an approachable pro-active and enthusiastic attitude and will be able to demonstrate a commitment to subordinate development throughout their career as well as possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.

If the incumbent does not currently hold SpLD and coaching / mentoring qualifications training will be provided. However they will be expected to become fully qualified within 12 months of start date.

Although the successful candidate will be located at RAF Halton there will be a requirement for regular attendance/support at other surrounding Units.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Provide support to trainees with Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs) and specialist advice and guidance to stakeholders.

Provide Functional Skills training and support for apprentices at Phase 1.

Implement and manage the SpLD pathway and provide accurate effective and consistent SpLD support including facilitation of Initial Interview Screening and ILP production.

Delivery of neurodiversity awareness workshops to Unit stakeholders including SP on hold STO/SpLD Co-ord/RTS /ACS.

Remain compliant and abreast of up-to-date information pertaining to Apprenticeships SpLD and wider learning support theory and practice. Updating EEF SOP as required.

Assist WO LSMT with the collection of qualitative and quantitative feedback/data to provide contextual insight measurability and impact of LSMT.

Management and Coordination of the PRFV on reintroduction to BRTC.

Daily management and annual reporting of EEF staff.

Maintain accurate RAF Apprenticeship Centre contact information and provides timely flow of FS and SpLD information to Ph2 Units.

Management of EEF resources including the formal process of requesting funds to ensure EEF has the necessary resources to maintain output. This also encompasses the review and verification of invoices/BC prior to submitting payment requests as EPC ownership and associated responsibilities.

Ownership and management of high-level documentation including QMS (and QIP) INFORM and Training Improvement Form (TIF) submissions Risk data capture from feedback and trend analysis.

Assist OC ADF with the associated coordination for OFSTED (EEF-requirements).

Upon request / consultation (via FDS/LSMT) advise training and line management staff of possible remediation and support strategies for apprentices with SpLD through workplace visits to at RAF Halton

Upon request / consultation (via FDS/LSMT) provide additional SpLD support to local stations including RAF Northolt and joint support with LSMT for RAF Odiham and Benson as required.
