The most recent ISI Inspection of the Senior School rated us as Excellent in all categories a judgement of which we are very proud. The school operates a 5-day week with representative sports played during the week and on Saturdays.

It is the entity used to generate income from the schools non-educational activities which include the lettings of school properties/facilities and holiday sports camps. These activities do not come directly under the umbrella of the schools charitable aims but they provide an essential income stream to support those aims.

Ipswich School Enterprises Ltd is seeking a motivated and reliable Swimming Lesson Assistant to support the delivery of a high-quality swimming programme for the public at Ipswich School.
Working alongside qualified Swim Instructors you will help deliver engaging and safe lessons for participants of all ages and abilities supporting swimmers to build confidence develop skills and enjoy their time in the water.

You will be responsible to the Lead Swim Instructor The General Manager and ultimately the Director of Sport
Principle responsibilities:
- assist Swim Instructors in delivering structured swimming lessons in line with approved curriculum and safety standards
- support swimmers in developing basic techniques water confidence and safety skills
- provide encouragement and positive reinforcement to participants
- help set up and clear away equipment for lessons
- maintain a safe inclusive and positive learning environment
- support behaviour management within lessons where appropriate
- communicate effectively with instructors swimmers parents and colleagues
- monitor poolside safety and follow instructions from the lead instructor
- follow Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) and implement Emergency Action Plan (EAP) when required
- report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.

Person specification:
- experience working with children or in a sporting/coaching environment (desirable)
- ability to work as part of a team and take directions from lead instructors
- good communication and interpersonal skills
- qualifications (desirable but not essential): Swim England Level 1 Assistant (Teaching Swimming) or willingness to work towards it - NRASTC NPLQ or other water safety qualifications (desirable)

Hours of work pay and benefits:

- this is a casual part-term position there are no set hours of working. You will be asked to sign a Casual Worker Agreement
- your working hours will be determined for each separate assignment/period of work offered to you
- an assignment period usually lasts for one academic term but can be shorter or longer in duration to meet the schools requirements
- this role will be classified as a Support Staff position in the school
- the hourly rate for this post will be 14.20 per hour
- hours worked should be recorded on a timesheet authorised by the General Manager or Director of Sport and submitted to the HR Office by the 16th of each month for payment at the end of the month
- statutory holiday pay is calculated and paid termly (currently in April August and December)
- salaries are paid monthly in arrears by BACS on the last working day of each month and hourly rates of pay are reviewed annually in April or September
- in line with workplace pension legislation you will be entitled to join a defined contribution pension scheme after 3 months service and you will receive 3x death in service life cover if you join the scheme
- free lunch is provided in the Dining Hall during term time when you are on duty and staff are able to use the schools swimming pool and fitness gym free of charge (in compliance with appropriate rules and regulations).
