We are looking for a highly organised Laboratory Technician to join us in establishing a brand-new service laboratory for next generation duplex sequencing using a well established methodology DuplexSeq.

Your role
As a Laboratory Technician you will support with establishment of a new service laboratory working with the Principal Scientist in the validation oversight and quality of the error-corrected sequencing (ECS) method DuplexSeq for applications within genomic safety.
Specifically you will:
- Follow SOPs methods and study plans for ECS workflows.
- Prepare reagents control solutions and samples for sequencing assays.
- Organise label and manage laboratory consumables and samples.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures to support DuplexSeq workflows.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as required.
- Keep the laboratory clean organised and safe.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of consumables.
- Take ownership of record-keeping ensuring accuracy attention to detail and thorough documentation.
- Show enthusiasm for learning and continuously developing technical skills relevant to your role.
About you
To join us as a Laboratory Technician you will need:
- Degree in life sciences or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of basic laboratory principles with enthusiasm to learn new practical skills.
- Strong team player with good communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Outlook and Excel.
We will consider applications from candidates who do not have formal scientific qualifications if you have significant relevant experience.
