Job Summary
Looking for a Mechanical Maintenance person who can be based in Khopoli
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure maximum mechanical reliability and availability of all plant equipment - cold rolling mill pickling
line batch annealing furnaces skin pass mill slitting line CTL line hydraulic systems lubrication systems
utilities (compressors cooling towers pumps) and material handling systems. The role demands a shift from
reactive breakdown maintenance to a preventive and predictive maintenance culture with tight control over
spare consumption maintenance budgets and equipment life extension. The HOD Mechanical must build a
disciplined maintenance team and establish systems that deliver sustained uptime improvement.
To ensure maximum mechanical reliability and availability of all plant equipment - cold rolling mill pickling
line batch annealing furnaces skin pass mill slitting line CTL line hydraulic systems lubrication systems
utilities (compressors cooling towers pumps) and material handling systems. The role demands a shift from
reactive breakdown maintenance to a preventive and predictive maintenance culture with tight control over
spare consumption maintenance budgets and equipment life extension. The HOD Mechanical must build a
disciplined maintenance team and establish systems that deliver sustained uptime improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Own mechanical reliability of all plant equipment: cold rolling mill (work rolls backup rolls housing
hydraulic AGC coilers decoilers) pickling line (tanks wringer rolls side trimmers looper) batch
annealing furnaces (bases inner covers heating hoods fan assemblies gas systems) skin pass
mill slitting line and CTL line.
Develop and enforce a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for every major equipment with clear
checklists frequencies and accountability. Track PM schedule adherence weekly.
Reduce unplanned breakdowns systematically: maintain a breakdown log with root cause analysis
(RCA) for every event >30 minutes. Present top 5 breakdown contributors monthly with corrective
actions.
Manage the roll shop: roll grinding schedules roll inventory roll surface quality and roll campaign
tracking for cold rolling and skin pass mills.
Own hydraulic system reliability: HPU maintenance valve servicing cylinder inspection oil
cleanliness (NAS class) filter changes and leak reduction across rolling mill and coilers.
Establish and manage a lubrication management system: rolling oil (concentration temperature
filtration tramp oil removal) grease schedules for bearings gearbox oil analysis.
Plan and execute annual/periodic shutdowns: prepare detailed shutdown task lists spare
procurement manpower allocation and post-shutdown commissioning checklists.
Control spare parts consumption: maintain critical spare inventory track spare cost vs budget
monthly standardise spare specifications and identify repairable vs replaceable items.
Manage gearbox bearing coupling and pump maintenance across all lines. Implement condition
monitoring (vibration analysis oil analysis thermography) where feasible.
Supervise external maintenance contractors and AMC vendors. Ensure quality of outsourced work
(roll grinding hydraulic repairs fabrication).
Coordinate with production and planning to align maintenance windows with production schedule.
Minimise maintenance-related production delays.
