The Engineer NPI (PCBA) will support New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering execution of PCB Assembly projects in an AS9100-certified aerospace/defense or EMS manufacturing environment. The role focuses on hands-on execution process readiness build support and smooth transition from prototype to production while ensuring compliance with IPC and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support NPI activities for PCBA projects from prototype to pilot and early production stages.
Assist in APQP activities project tracking and milestone execution.
Perform BOM validation alternate part checks and manufacturability assessment.
Participate in DFM/DFA/DFT reviews as per IPC guidelines.
Support development of process flows work instructions and build documentation.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design Quality Production Test SCM) during NPI builds.
Provide hands-on support during prototype and pilot builds.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support root cause analysis (RCA).
Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure adherence to AS9100 quality procedures and documentation requirements.
Support internal audits customer audits and build readiness reviews.
Technical Skills & Standards
Hands-on experience in PCB Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing.
Good understanding of:
SMT and PTH processes
Pick & Place machines
Reflow and Wave soldering
Selective soldering (preferred)
AOI and X-ray inspection
Exposure to PCBA-level testing:
ICT
FCT
Functional testing
Working knowledge of IPC standards:
IPC-A-610
IPC-7711/7721 (preferred)
IPC-J-STD-001 (preferred)
Basic understanding of AS9100 quality systems and documentation.
Exposure to MES / ERP / PLM tools is an advantage.
Qualifications
BE / BTech in Electronics Electrical or related discipline.
35 years of relevant experience in Aerospace Defense or EMS manufacturing.
Strong execution problem-solving and coordination skills.
Willingness to work on shop floor and support builds.

Experience in SMT and PTH assembly processes.
Exposure to prototype pilot and early production builds.

Familiarity with manufacturing documentation (WI SOP Process Flow etc.).
Willingness to work on shop floor during builds and trials.
Strong coordination skills with cross-functional teams.

Exposure to AS9100 or similar quality systems.
Knowledge of AOI X-ray inspection and functional testing.
Understanding of DFM/DFA/DFT concepts.
