Job Summary
The Reimbursement Specialist supports Trinity Healths revenue cycle operations by accurately posting patient payments reconciling financial transactions and ensuring timely processing of incoming funds. The role serves as the primary cashier and reception point for Patient Financial Services assisting patients with billing inquiries and directing requests to the appropriate team members. This position contributes to financial accuracy patient satisfaction and smooth departmental workflow through precise data entry and responsive communication. By maintaining reliable payment records and supporting daily office functions the Reimbursement Specialist helps uphold compliance and the integrity of financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and post patient payments adjustments and financial transactions in accordance with departmental policies and established reconciliation procedures.
- Serve as the receptionist/cashier for Patient Financial Services greeting visitors answering calls and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff or department.
- Maintain accurate transaction records logs and supporting documentation to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
- Distribute sort and route incoming mail and payment correspondence to support timely billing and follow-up activities.
- Respond to patient questions regarding account balances payment options and billing statements while delivering courteous service-oriented communication.
- Collaborate with revenue cycle teams to resolve posting variances and support continuous improvement in payment processing workflows.

Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Office/clerical experience required preferably billing or insurance claim processing.
- Computer experience required.
Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Good communication skills required.
- Ability to type quickly and accurately required.
- Medical terminology and coding knowledge helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements:
The Reimbursement Specialist performs work primarily in an office setting that requires prolonged periods of sitting keyboarding and viewing a computer screen. The role involves occasional standing walking reaching and lifting or carrying light materials such as files mail trays or office supplies. Adequate vision hearing and manual dexterity are required to accurately process payments handle documents and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in a typical business office environment within Patient Financial Services with regular exposure to computers office equipment and frequent telephone interaction. The role may experience periods of high activity volume requiring focus and attention to detail amidst interruptions. Adherence to confidentiality data security protocols and Trinity Healths safety and compliance standards is required at all times.
