Job Summary

Description

Job Purpose:The Psychology Graduate Assistant will support the psychology program through various administrative and outreach activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting with preparation of departmental materials (recruitment events advising classes etc.) performing general administrative duties supporting event planning (alumni panels Psi Chi activities etc.) and managing the programs presence on social media (Instagram and Facebook) to promote engagement and visibility.

Skills Development or Learning Opportunities Available:

  • Gain experience in academic program development including assisting with the creation of advising and career pathway materials for students.
  • Develop skills in student engagement and event planning.
  • Apply social media management and marketing strategies in a higher education setting.
  • Enhance organizational project management and administrative skills.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare organize and print materials to support faculty in teaching and advising.
  • Develop and maintain advising materials including career pathways and post-graduate opportunities.
  • Support planning and implementation of various events including Psi Chi induction alumni panels recruitment events and alumni guest lectures in classes.
  • Manage and create content for the psychology programs social media presence on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Hold regular office hours to assist faculty and answer student questions.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus partners (e.g. Career Center) to support student professional development initiatives.
  • Provide support on Moodle (announcements course materials etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the operations of the department.


Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Enrollment in a graduate program in a field related to psychology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty staff and students
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in graduate level courses for the current and/or upcoming academic year
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University
  • Need to complete a background check in line with University requirements
  • Need to complete the onboarding process prior to the start of the role.
