Overview
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Plant Engineering to drive operational performance equipment reliability and continuous improvement across a high-volume production facility. This role is responsible for leading maintenance and engineering functions optimizing plant efficiency and executing strategic capital initiatives that enhance long-term operational success.
The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader with strong technical expertise a data-driven mindset and a proven ability to build high-performing teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead capital projects from concept through execution ensuring delivery on time within budget and in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
- Oversee project planning and implementation to minimize production disruption and maximize operational impact
- Develop and implement advanced maintenance strategies including preventive and predictive maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability uptime and overall operational efficiency
- Lead coach and develop maintenance and engineering teams promoting a strong safety-first culture and accountability at all levels
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues while identifying and addressing root causes to prevent recurrence
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including equipment reliability maintenance effectiveness and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Partner cross-functionally with operations quality and leadership teams to support plant goals and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build organizational capability through talent development performance management and succession planning
- Foster a culture of safety communication engagement and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Business or a related field
- 10 years of experience in engineering and/or maintenance leadership within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems including automation and controls
- Proven experience managing large-scale capital projects and budgets
- Knowledge of maintenance systems work order processes and reliability-centered maintenance practices
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and design tools (e.g. AutoCAD)
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems
- Background in high-volume production operations

- Flexibility to support off-shift or weekend operations as needed
