30Summary:
The Point of Care Coordinator under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and the Laboratory Operations Manager oversees the point of care program in the hospital. This individual performs a variety of duties necessary to provide quality and efficient point of care testing services to patients. This position is responsible for ensuring CLIA standards are met and sustained. To provide these services the coordinator will educate and communicate with clinical employees of various skill levels. Experience and analytical judgment will be used to evaluate all phases of the point of care testing services and instrumentation to assure reliable and accurate results are being produced. The Point of Care Coordinator will provide administrative scientific and technical oversight and support to designated departments. They are responsible to have a general working knowledge of the theory of all methodologies within the scope of service assigned and have skills necessary to ensure regulatory compliance is met while serving as technical consultant for assigned areas. The Point of Care Coordinator will work together with the laboratory operations manager to oversee physical financial and human resources effectively and efficiently and will collaborate with other laboratory leadership to contribute recommendations for strategic planning. The focus of this position is to offer and maintain a high quality of service through a positive supportive and professional collaboration.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology or an appropriate biological chemical or physical science from an accredited program
Minimum of 5 years experience performing laboratory testing in a clinical setting to include those tests classed as waived moderate or high complexity and 4 years of supervisory experience preferred
Work experience with lab quality assurance procedures and Lab Accreditation program preferred
Must have at least 1 year of experience with point of care testing and associated information systems required
Must have a strong understanding of CLIA and other laboratory regulatory agencies standards
Must be able to articulate standards to non-laboratorians for assurance of compliance
Candidate must be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent nationally recognized certifying agency
