Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with key members of the OHS Department subject matter experts and employees in operations.
- Participate in HSE team meetings to understand the OHS Departments operations at CRH and identify opportunities for skill development.
- Support site supervision in implementing and managing the health and safety management system.
- Work closely with the OHS Department on developing site-specific safe work practices procedures and hazard assessments.
- Conduct regularly scheduled health and safety inspections of the workplace and document/post these inspections in visible locations on the job site.
- Follow up on all corrective actions noted during ongoing workplace inspections.
- Maintain statistics and records and monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a university or college in one of the following or relevant programs: Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Certificate in Environmental Management or a degree in Industrial Hygiene Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
- Valid G-Drivers License
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
- Strong verbal and written communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office especially Excel and SharePoint (e.g. pivot tables macros).
- Regular reliable attendance.
- Ability to work productively and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors employees and others both individually and in a team environment.
- Ability to perform work safely and effectively and understand and follow oral and written instructions including warning signs equipment use and other policies.
