POSITION SCOPE
The Scraper Operator operates heavy machinery to manipulate earth and rock at a construction site. Must be able to operate a scraper according to project specifications. The individual will be responsible for servicing and maintaining equipment daily.
Position requires extensive overnight travel.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
- Assist with setup and tear down of plants
- Perform general maintenance repair and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor
- General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily or as directed by supervisor
- Must be able to lift objects weighing 75 lb. on a regular basis
- The use of a shovel to move material will be necessary
- Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy
- Perform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startup
- Report any incident to the Supervisor or safety team
- Clean and maintain equipment -Perform routine inspection of assigned equipment and report any needed repair to the supervisor
- Always maintain 3 points of contact on all pieces of equipment
- Respond to signals and directions by other staff members and work in coordination with them
- Operate the equipment in adherence to safety policies procedures job site and/or traffic laws
- Report any safety violation to the Supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
- 2 years operating a diverse range of heavy equipment preferred
- Excellent hand eye and foot coordination
- Comfort working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
- Disciplined dependable and resourceful
- Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications
- Work well in a team environment.
- Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
- Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch
- Ability to read grade stakes and operate transit preferred
- Position requires extensive overnight travel
