Job Summary
The AWS Networking organization is hiring and were looking for talented Network Development Engineers (NDE) to join our team. Within Networking were confronting and solving complex and high-stake challenges. Our teams support all aspects of connectivity to/from Amazon and the outside world as well as the connectivity between Amazons data centers and services. As a member of one our network engineering teams you will play a part in designing and architecting networks that simply cannot fail must scale infinitely and can never constrain growth or innovation.
This opportunity sits within our Border Network Engineering organization where the team is responsible for designing the networks connecting Amazon directly to the outside world (including the Internet peers and external customers) evolving the global backbone that interconnects our Regions as well as partnering with our internal customers. Engineers in this organization define routing policy design and implement Traffic Engineering solutions as well as architect the hardware platforms and network design to support internal and external connectivity. We move terabits of traffic in and out of our networks each day and are responsible for the ingress and egress points of traffic entering and leaving Amazon as well as the entirety of all internal and customer traffic that rides our global backbone. Engineers on this team make day-to-day and strategic decisions that carry a significant amount of responsibility and impact.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and were looking for talented people who want to help.
Youll join a diverse team of software hardware and network engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities
Design network topologies architectures and services that address diverse technical and business requirements
Contribute materially to team roadmaps by listening to both internal and external customers as well as team feedback
Collaborate with leadership to prioritize and select projects that best support the teams mission
Design proactively ahead of customer and technology needs anticipating and solving problems before they occur
Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) documents for network solutions and infrastructure projects
Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps and strategic direction
Construct test and validate network solutions to ensure reliability and performance standards
Provide technical support and guidance to deployment and operations teams implementing your designs
Serve as a technical escalation point for operations teams offering expert-level troubleshooting and problem resolution
Scope and deliver complex network solutions with appropriate resources and timelines

- - Bachelors degree
- - Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
- - Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
- - Experience in major internet routing protocols specifically BGP and OSPF
- - Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
- - Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
- - Knowledge of IT best practice frameworks (ITIL COBIT) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies
- - Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
- - Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl shell C or C
- - Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution
