Position Overview
QinetiQ Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to manage maintain and optimize our Linux-based infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced production-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Design deploy and maintain Linux server environments (physical virtual and cloud-based)
- Ensure system performance availability and security across all environments
- Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash Python or similar)
- Manage system monitoring logging and alerting tools
- Perform system upgrades patching and vulnerability remediation
- Troubleshoot complex system and application issues
- Collaborate with DevOps networking and security teams
- Maintain documentation for systems processes and procedures
- Support disaster recovery and backup strategies
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g. RHEL CentOS Ubuntu)
- Strong knowledge of system performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with virtualization (VMware KVM etc.)
- Implementation of STIGs according to NIST Framework
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash Python or similar)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible Puppet or Chef)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios Prometheus Grafana etc.)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP DNS firewalls)
- Well versed in CyberSecurity hygiene
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with containerization (Docker Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Linux certifications (RHCE LFCS or equivalent)
- Experience in high-availability and distributed systems
- Working knowledge of Gitlab or similar applications
