Job Summary

Working under minimal supervision level two operators demonstrate the ability to perform level one responsibilities along with performing basic setups and employing more advanced grinding techniques including measuring surface finish use of calipers and any other measuring device required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Obtain job assignments from lead supervisor or manager.
Work safely in accordance to plant safety guidelines including cardinal rules of safety.
Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspections to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
Load and unload material
Perform daily inspection of equipment such as grinders forklift overhead cranes etc.
Complete production reports accurately and timely.
Perform transactions in Quality Management System as applicable.
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required.
Perform other duties as requested by lead supervisor or manager.

Required Skills:

Basic ability to read and interpret process sheets.
Basic use and interpretation of measuring equipment
Basic understanding of shop mathematics
Basic understanding of grinding functions
Ability to communicate effectively to team members lead supervisor manager and others.
Ability to be certified to operate forklift and overhead crane.
Ability to wear a respirator
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to government military contracts.

Experience & Education

High school diploma or GED
1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree required

Working Conditions:

Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
Constant exposure to moderate noise
Working conditions may include small spaces dust fumes odors hot / cold temperatures inside / outside noise vibration standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
Must be able to work any shift including overtime weekends and holidays if scheduled.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
Must be able to stand walk bend squat climb kneel twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping pushing and pulling of materials.
Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane.
Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment including a respirator.
Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
