Intermediate District 287 is looking for a Director of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment to join the team!
The Director of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment provides strategic and operational leadership for the design implementation and continuous improvement of district-wide curriculum instructional practices and assessment systems across Intermediate District 287.
This role ensures all students have access to rigorous grade-level aligned instruction through culturally responsive inclusive and data-informed practices. The Director leads system coherence across sites develops instructional leadership capacity and aligns curriculum assessment and professional learning to the districts strategic priorities.
The Director serves as the central leader of the Curriculum Instruction and Assessment leadership team and reports to the Executive Director of Equity Curriculum and Instruction.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching and instructional leadership
- Masters Degree or higher
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and implementation
- Experience working in or closely with special education programming
- Strong knowledge of MTSS assessment systems and instructional best practices
- Experience leading adult learning and professional development
Licensure Requirements
- K-12 Principal license and a MN teaching license through Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a principal or instructional leader
- Expertise in culturally responsive teaching and equity-centered leadership
- Experience coaching educators in special education and inclusive practices
- Knowledge of Career and Technical Education alternative education and diverse programming models
- Experience with Learning Management System platforms and instructional technology systems
Essential Functions

Essential organizational function: ensure measurable outcomes in instructional quality and student access to grade-level content in all core curricular areas
Instructional Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of a clear equity-centered instructional vision aligned to district strategic goals
- Actively engage in the development and implementation of the Districts Strategic Plan
- Serve as the district leader driving pedagogy rigor and access to grade-level content for all learners
- Define and communicate high-quality instructional practices across all programs (special education alternative CTE etc.)
- Develop and operationalize a district instructional framework in collaboration with Special Education ensuring aligned expectations across programs
- Partner with Special Education to design and deliver ongoing professional learning for specialized instructional coaches to support implementation and instructional consistency
- Partner with building leaders to ensure strong site-level implementation of instructional priorities
- Facilitate regular engagement with principals and instructional leaders to monitor progress and adjust strategy
- Build capacity of principals and assistant principals in instructional leadership and teacher evaluation
- Provide coaching and resources to instructional leaders and educators
- Align professional learning with culturally responsive teaching and equity-based pedagogy for equitable outcomes
- Organize and facilitate annual New Staff Academy
Curriculum Development
- Direct the development adoption and continuous improvement of KTransition curriculum aligned to state standards and district priorities
- Establish and manage a district curriculum review cycle in collaboration with site leadership
- Ensure alignment of curriculum across programs to support access to grade-level content including integration within special education settings
Assessment Coordination & MTSS
- Manage administration of state and district assessments including compliance training and communication
- Design and implement cohesive assessment systems that support progress monitoring and instructional decision-making
- Lead analysis of student performance data to identify trends inform strategy and improve outcomes
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in state reporting (e.g. CACR MSSS Local Literacy Plan and other accountability systems)
- Lead district-wide MTSS development and implementation
- Establish systems for progress monitoring and data-based decision-making
- Develop and maintain a structured menu of interventions across academic and behavioral domains
Supervision and Operational Management
- Design develop and implement professional development programs aligned to instructional priorities and the district strategic plan
- Develop and implement systems for monitoring instructional quality and program effectiveness for continuous improvement
- Manage multilingual learner services and staff
- Partner with the Director of Student Supports and the Director of Instructional Technology to ensure the development alignment and ongoing management of technological tools and infrastructure that support student information systems curriculum implementation and instructional data use
- Facilitate the Teaching & Learning Advisory Committee
- Manage department and assigned budgets grants and resources aligned to instructional priorities
