Mechanical Apprentice / Firewatch / Hole watch
The Mechanical Apprentice / Firewatch / Hole watch supports maintenance repair and construction activities by performing mechanical assistance duties and providing critical safety monitoring during hot work and confined space operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe work environment and supporting skilled craftsmen. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist mechanics pipefitters welders and other trades with maintenance and repair tasks.
- Perform Firewatch and Hole watch duties during hot work and confined space activities.
- Monitor work areas for fire hazards unsafe conditions and atmospheric changes.
- Maintain constant communication with supervisors and affected personnel.
- Ensure compliance with safety permits procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Use basic hand tools cleaning equipment and materials as directed.
- Set up and maintain barricades signage and safety equipment.
- Respond promptly to alarms incidents or unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
- Maintain a clean safe and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years experience as a mechanical helper- such as pipefitting millwright welding.
- Mechanical aptitude or prior industrial experience preferred.
- Firewatch/Hole watch or confined space experience a plus.
Requirements
- Must have experience hole watching/fire watching
Assist other trades and maintenance activities.
- Must be able to work overtime nights weekends and callâins as needed.
- Must be able to maintain alertness for extended periods.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
