Junior Automation Engineer (Systems)
Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY
We are inviting applications from dynamic and passionate engineering graduates to join our Electrical instrumentation & automation Team. The role offers hands-on exposure to Industrial electrical systems Instrumentation & advance automation technologies in a real -time plant / project environment while working on both projects and bid proposals
In general he/she will work as part of a team and will collaborate closely with other team members and functional disciplines to ensure successful delivery of the project or bid scope.
What You will learn & DO
Electrical & instrumentation: Design & Execution Tasks
- Learn EIA and defining and implementing their characteristics by means of (for example):
- Electrical architecture diagrams
- Electrical hardware selection and specification
- Network and comms configuration
- Signal exchange / interfaces with other systems
- Item numeration
- Development of tenders for subcontractors
- Study of subcontractors quotations according to budgets
- Work on electrical system such as MCC PCC and VFD panels
- Assist in installation and calibration of field instruments (like FLOW Pressure Temp etc)
- Support commissioning and automation projects on site.
- Participate in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Learn industrial safety standards and best engineering practices.
- Final choice of the subcontractor
- Cabinets electrical tests (at the subcontractors in Local)
- Following up the field wiring on site
- Adhering to SPX Flow procedures and utilising applicable tools and design standards during the development of electrical solutions
- Completing design calculations (e.g. estimating number of tags) to support electrical design and equipment selection
- Hardware simulation / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT)
- Automation Design
- Learn automation solutions and defining and implementing their characteristics by means of (for example):
- Gain practical exposure to PLC & SCADA system.
- Automation architecture diagrams
- Hardware and software selection and specification
- Control philosophy
- Software structure
- Functional design descriptions (e.g. FDS)
- Detailed design specifications (e.g. DDS)
- PLC software code (e.g. device logic equipment modules control modules etc)
- Network and comms configuration
- Design and configuration of HMI applications
- Design and configuration of SCADA applications
- Interface with SCADA systems I/O servers etc
- Interface with MIS/MES systems and databases where applicable
- Interface with ERP systems where applicable
- Signal exchange / interfaces with other systems
- Adhering to SPX Flow procedures and utilising applicable tools and design standards during the development of automation solutions
- Completing design calculations (e.g. estimating number of tags) to support automation design and equipment selection
- software simulation / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Customer Acceptance Testing (CAT)
- Learn automation solutions and defining and implementing their characteristics by means of (for example):
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Fluent English both spoken and written
- Additional language(s) an advantage
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks within a matrix environment
- Ability and willingness to work and build relationships with colleagues across multiple functions and geographically diverse sites
- Good analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- The ability to meet high performance standards in a team whilst maintaining ethics and integrity
- Must have experience with Microsoft Excel AutoCAD
- Basic coding knowledge with Siemens/ Rockwell PLC systems an advantage
- C C# Visual Studio an advantage
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree level qualification in appropriate engineering discipline (e.g. Electrical/Instrumentation /Electronics communication)
- Good level of competence in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)
- Batch: Current Year / Recent Graduates
- Strong academic record.

In general this is an office-based job with a considerable amount of time spent at a computer. Ability to travel to other SPX locations and customer sites is a requirement. Ability to travel locally to approximately 30 % of the time.
