Statistics is central to how we make confident decisions in R&D. Our vision is to accelerate the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines through industry-leading advances in transforming data into knowledge. This means combining strong statistical fundamentals with modern ways of working:leveragingnew data at scale using open-source analytics responsibly adopting AI-enabled tools and automation and building a culture with a growth mindset where people are supported to thrive.

Ahead together with tailored training and career development

Join a team of industry-leading statisticians and methodologist experts embedding quantitative decision-making to take smart risks and improve the probability of study and programme success. Over two years the programme provides hands-on experience and mentoring through rotations across priority organisations and project areas. Throughout the programme you will work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues supporting progress across the portfolio to get ahead of disease together.

All our statisticians work in aproject-first tech-enabled expert-led model embedded in theResearch Units (RU)teams they support across R&D. Rotations are designed to build breadth across evidence generation. Rotationscan behosted withinthe following RUs:

Real World Data Measurement & Analytics (RWDMA)

Use real-world data to answer questions that improve patient outcomes
Real-world evidence is increasingly essential to how healthcare and regulatory decisions are made. Apply statistical thinking and causal inference to real world evidence and measurement challenges helping translate healthcare data into decision ready insights. Rotations may include study design and analysis using observational data sources endpoint/measurement strategies including digital and patient reported outcomes and transparent reproducible analytics to support evidence generation.

(Where relevant rotations may also include work with Statistics & Data Science Innovation Hub -SDSIH within Development Sciences focusing on scalable analytics innovation and methodological development)

Vaccines Infectious Diseases & HIV Statistics

Shape evidence in diseases where speed and prevention both matter
In vaccines infectious diseases and HIV evidence generation demands both scientific depth and operational excellence. Support evidence generation in areas where speed rigour and clear communication of uncertainty are critical. Rotations may span clinical study design and analysis innovative approaches to trial designs andquestions andcrossfunctionalcollaboration to deliverhighqualityevidence that informs development and external discussions.

Respiratory Immunology & Inflammation (RI&I) Statistics

Advance medicines through smarter trial design and stronger inference

In respiratory immunology and inflammation development decisions often hinge on complex endpoints heterogeneous patient populations and rigorous interpretation. Thisrotationoffers supporting studies and programmes where statistical leadership optimises designs strengthens inference and accelerates learning; decisionfocused statistics that improves studyfocused statistics that improves trial effectiveness and supports robust portfolio decisions.

Oncology Statistics

Generate robust evidence in complex oncology development programmes

Oncology evidence generation oftenrequirescareful design choices clearestimands and rigorous interpretation across diverse settings (for example blood cancers solid tumours and immuno-oncology). Rotations may include clinical study design and analysis benefitrisk and uncertainty communication and collaboration across disciplines to inform high-impact development decisions.
