Job Summary

Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations
The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohios unemployment insurance program which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker. What You Will Do
This position works in the Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations Performance and Systems area Finance Section Accounting Unit.
Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping
  • Reporting Prepare and transmit financial and statistical reports.
  • Public Interaction Communicate with customers by phone email and other channels.
  • Task Prioritization Manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Teamwork Support coworkers with daily tasks and special projects.

  • Microsoft Office Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to create and edit documents in Microsoft Word; familiarity with Microsoft Teams.

Schedule: Full-time.
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Location: This position will be headquartered in an ODJFS facility in Columbus Akron or Dayton. This determination will consider proximity to the applicants home address.

The ideal candidate at minimum must have the following:
Option 1:
- 12 months experience as a Financial Associate 66561.
OR
Option 2:
- 30 months experience or 30 months training in accounting and/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
OR
Option 3:
- Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration accounting finance or a related field;
AND
- 6 months experience or 6 months training in accounting and/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
OR
Option 4:
- Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohios OCSEA Pay Schedule Pay Range 30. Unless required by legislation or union contract starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1 currently $25.77 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
