This is a term anticipatory permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The opportunity

The Policy Planning and Communications Branch provides research analysis writing and advisory services to departmental managers to support program delivery and decision-making. We also provide corporate planning support and ensure a consistent approach to marketing and communications.

Reporting to the Manager Marketing and Communications the communications analyst is responsible for developing strategic communications products that support departmental programs and initiatives and providing communications expertise advice analysis and support to the Minister senior management and department programs. Providing client services to department branches is a key element of this role.

Responsibilities include media relations speech writing developing online content for social media and creating and editing documents such as annual reports and providing support and advice to department staff on all a full range of communication activities.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in communications journalism public relations or public administration;
  • Experience developing and delivering a full-range of communication products (such as news release speaking notes communication strategies);
  • Experience writing for various audiences and stakeholders;
  • Experience providing communications advice preferably within a government setting.

Candidates who have education training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
