Job Summary

Job Overview

The Strategic Operations Lead translates high-level scientific and strategic goals into clear operational plans decision-ready dashboards workflows and on-time execution for Science & Global Strategy. This role owns the departments operating rhythmmanaging project plans cross-functional coordination contracts budget dashboards and risk identification to ensure deliverables advance on schedule and with alignment across units.

Essential Functions (defines the critical end results expected of the jobholder related to the accountabilities above)

1. Serve as the primary operational partner to SGS leadership translating high-level scientific goals into actionable operational plans with defined timelines milestones and accountability structures (e.g. OKRs or KPIs).

2. Identify operational risks and propose evidence-based mitigation strategies.

3. Provide expert guidance on workflow design and resource planning to ensure departmental priorities are met efficiently and administrative friction is minimized for scientific staff.

4. Manage departmental budgets and resources; maintain realâtime dashboards to monitor spending against milestones.

5. Lead operational execution of complex projects across the science and global strategy portfolio ensuring they remain on schedule and within scope.

6. Coordinate multi-stakeholder working groups and international collaborations while serving as the operational conduit between SGS and other internal divisions (e.g. Journals Meetings) to ensure resource alignment.

7. Ensure operational readiness for scientific convenings global meetings and strategic initiatives.

8. Establish and maintain attribution frameworks to track how specific unit outputs contribute to overall SGS goals and ASM-wide impact metrics.

6. Enterprise Processes and Technologies Understands and effectively uses standard office equipment such as personal computers/laptops and office automation software. Uses newspecializedor organization-specific equipment technologies software databases and systems asrequiredin accordance withtheorganizationspolicies. Up to date on social media anduseit appropriately on behalf of ASM.

Physical Demands

This role is primarily sedentary and involves prolonged periods of sitting and extensive use of computers and other digital devices. Employees may be required to engage in repetitive motions such as typing and mouse use. Occasional movement may be necessary to access office supplies or equipment within a home or remote workspace. This requires a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup including standard equipment such as a computer monitor keyboard mouse and headset. Ergonomic considerations are encouraged to promote comfort and reduce physical strain during extended work hours.

Travel Requirements
Up to 10% - primarily for scientific or strategic meetings advisory groups or other departmental events or meetings.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree in Business Administration Management Communications Science Management or a related field is required; Masters degree in a relevant field preferred.

Flexibility to work varied hours as working with individuals in multiple time zones.
