Orientation/Training

New team membersare required tocomplete a Sterile Processing educational training course. The first7 weeksof this 90-day course are mandatory 1st shift 0700-1530 Monday-Friday. Once the course is completed the team member will transition to their hired shift times for theremainderof orientation.

Scope of work

Responsible for inspecting disinfecting assembling processing and distributing patient care instruments equipment and supplies in accordance with established policies procedures and Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards. Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment instruments and supplies. Stores rotates and ensures all instruments and supplies are correctly labeled.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Has completed 120 day department orientation. Required

  • CRT-Registered Central Services Technician Certified (CRCST) - HSPA Healthcare Sterile Processing Association 1 1/2 Yrs required Or

  • CRT-Sterile Processing Distribution Tech (CSPDT) - CBSPD Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution Must obtain certification within 18 months of original hire date. Once certification is obtained will be eligible to move into the intermediate tech role. 1 1/2 Yrs required
