The School of Architecture and Design invites applications for aTeaching Assistant position in Graphic Design. The successful candidate will support studio-based teaching in Graphic Design courses particularly in areas such as illustration printmaking visual communication and digital design.

The Teaching Assistant willassistfaculty members in studio instruction student mentoring lab supervision and course preparation. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate educationassistwith studio-based learning activities and support the academic and operational needs of the Graphic Design program within a collaborative and multicultural academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Support

• Assistfaculty members in undergraduate studio and lecture courses related toGraphic Designdigital mediaIllustration and Printmaking.

• Support studio sessions byassistingstudents with technical guidance intraditional and digital illustration techniquesmultimediaprintmaking processes and visual communication tools.

• Help prepare course materials demonstrations and digital resources used in studio instruction.

• Provide guidance to students during studio work critiques and project development.

• Assistin monitoring student progress andmaintainingstudio discipline and safety protocols.

• Support faculty in organizingstudent critiques presentations and portfolio reviews.

• Helpmaintainstudio facilities equipment and materials used in illustration and printmaking labs.

Academic and Studio Support

• Assistin managing course-related administrative tasks such as organizing course materials uploading resources to Canvas and supporting courselogistics.

• Provide support to students duringlab hours workshops or tutoring sessions.

• Assistwith documenting student work for exhibitions assessment or accreditation purposes.

• Support faculty in preparing materials forsenior projects exhibitions or competitions.

• Contribute tomaintainingan organized and productive studio learning environment.

Service and Institutional Engagement

• Support the School of Architecture and Design instudent exhibitions events competitions and outreach activities.

• Assistwith studio setup for workshops lectures or special academic events.

• Participate in departmental activities and contribute to the academic community.

• Promote a respectful inclusive and collaborative studio culture.

Qualifications

Academic Credentials

• Bachelors degree ingraphic design Visual Communication Illustration or a closely related fieldfrom an accredited institution.

• Technical Skills

• ProficiencyinAdobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator Photoshop InDesign)and other relevant digital design tools.

• Familiarity withdigital illustration tools printmaking processes and studio-based workflows.

• Professional and Academic Skills

• Strong understanding ofvisual communication principles typography layout and illustration techniques.

• Ability toassiststudents with bothconceptual design development and technical execution.

• Communication Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Cultural Competency

• Ability to work effectively in amulticultural academic environment.

Preferred

• Studio Experience

• Experience working inillustration printmaking or visual communication studios.

• Digital and Hybrid Tools

• Familiarity withdigital fabrication experimental print processes or emerging AI-assisted design tools.

• Teaching or Tutoring Experience

• Previousexperience as ateaching assistant tutor or studio assistantin a design-related program.

• Interdisciplinary Engagement

• Interestin collaborating withInterior Design Architecture and other design disciplines.
