Overview
The Division of Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition is seeking a Pediatric Transplant Hepatologist to join our growing department. Our staff includes 22 pediatricgastroenterologists 17 APRN providers and 7 psychologists. The Division also utilizes skilled pediatric nurses in our clinic and for procedure support and a pediatric-dedicated nutrition support team (including pediatric-certified nurses a dietitian and a pharmacist).
We have an active expanding clinical and research program an established ACGME-approved fellowship training program and are adding staff to meet the needs of our patients in general pediatric gastroenterology hepatology and motility. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent clinical skills and a desire to teach. Benefits include a competitive salary an excellent call schedule and a generous relocation package.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide specialized care for infants children and adolescents with acute and chronic liver diseases.
- Manage conditions such as autoimmune hepatitis biliary atresia metabolic liver disease genetic cholestatic disorders and complications of liver failure.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and collaborative programs within hepatology and gastroenterology.
- Interpret liver-related diagnostics including imaging laboratory patterns and liver biopsies.
- Share in equitable call responsibilities within the division.
Procedures
- Perform endoscopic and hepatology related procedures appropriate for scope of practice.
- Participate in pre-transplant and post-transplant care in collaboration with regional transplant partners.
Teaching & Education
- Teach and mentor medical students residents and fellows in the ACGME accredited Gastroenterology fellowship program.
- Provide didactic sessions and engage in bedside and procedural teaching.
- Model exceptional clinical skills and professionalism.
Research & Scholarship
- Engage in clinical translational or outcomes research within pediatric hepatology.
- Participate in the divisions expanding clinical and research programs supporting hepatology.
- Publish scholarly work and present findings at national/international meetings.
Collaboration & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with a large multidisciplinary team including pediatric gastroenterologists advanced practice providers psychologists nurses dietitians and pharmacists.
- Demonstrate Childrens Mercys values of excellence integrity collegiality antiracism and respect for diverse backgroundsexplicit expectations for all physician applicants.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Additional fellowship training inPediatric Transplant Hepatology
- Eligibility for medical licensure in Missouri and Kansas
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and a strong interest in teaching
- Commitment to academic medicine and participation in research
