Unit Role:
To develop the leadership potential of selected university students and potential officers for the Army Reserve raising awareness of the Armys ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession to champion the Army in society.
Position Role: Training Officer
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the planning organisation and successful delivery of the RMAS. Commissioning modular training syllabus in accordance with the RMAS and COs Training Directive.
2. Plan deliver and assure in close cooperation with the Executive Officer all Unit G3/5/7 outputs. Be able to plan coordinate prepare assure and monitor all training delivery and Army Officer Selection Board development in compliance with OFSTED CIF and RMAS guidance. Deliver comprehensive Unit training including overseeing the annual deployment exercises (ADXs).
3. Be able to ensure that a high standard of training is met across all Reserve led training and be up to date on invalidation and lesson assessments. Record all OCdt training on TAFMIS DRS and check ODR for wider mandated training compliance of all Unit personnel to meet their Certificate of Efficiency.
4. Responsible for maintaining Unit records on all MOD NET and Defence CIS applications and data tools. Provides updates to all Unit personnel on training progress and instructor development / qualification opportunities.
5. Support the wider Unit training and personal development opportunities such as Adventure Training Sports courses and competitions battlefield studies CE and Army in Scotland activities and deployment.
6. Subsidiary tasks will vary markedly according to the unit but may include such tasks as: Eqpt Care Safety Health and Environment (SHE).
7. Deliver wider Unit tasks as directed by the Officer Commanding or Commanding Officer.
UOTCs deliver a distributed RMAS syllabus with a small staff of mixed Regular Reserve FTRS and Civilians pers. This role is unique in that the Training Officer has many responsibilities not normally associated with the parallel post in a Reg or Army Res Unit. The Unit is a Reserve Phase 1 training establishment within the nuanced university space. All staff must be flexible and proactive in problem solving and risk management. Diplomacy and empathy are vital to lead a diverse team balanced with the morale courage to maintain the highest standards. With limited staff this post demands a flexible can-do approach to working practices being prepared to assume responsibilities exceeding those typical of a Captain
Any successful incumbent must understand and be the exemplar of the Army Leadership Code which includes moral codes of conduct when dealing with people within vulnerable categories.
