Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide vital records for birth death marriage and divorce verification certificates for customers agencies and other Stakeholders. This position includes general clerical work data entry record retrieval/filing strong computer skills working in Work Order Management System (WOMS). Other duties include processing applications in system direct contact with in-person customers and agencies recording money applications documentation in WOMS determining eligibility and entitlement for vital records and handling delivery of records to customers. This position provides support to customers resolving their issues answering questions and ensuring support to customer satisfaction. Additionally this position maintains knowledge of vital record rules COMAR laws and State regulations. This position provides both internal and external customer services that meets or exceeds the Customer Services standards set forth by the Department in line with the Governors Customer Service initiative.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: One year experience performing clerical duties in an office environment.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding clerical math word processing spreadsheets data base graphics presentation proofreading or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience providing accurate and efficient customer service (internal and external) through strong attention to detail
  • Experience with court findings and documentation
  • Ability to retain information and produce work in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Bilingual
