Job Summary
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the implementation maintenance and optimization of the organizations database systems with a primary focus on SQL Server environments. The DBA ensures data integrity security and availability supporting business operations and compliance requirements. Experience with Oracle databases is highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install configure and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud-based).
- Monitor database performance tune queries and optimize indexes for maximum efficiency.
- Implement and maintain database security backup and recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues including performance bottlenecks and data integrity problems.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments query optimization and upgrades.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripting (T-SQL PowerShell or similar).
- Assist with Oracle database administration as needed (installation patching monitoring and troubleshooting).
- Familiarity with storage arrays and their use in managing backing up and refreshing workloads.
- Document database environments processes and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 35 years of experience administering SQL Server databases in a production environment.
- Experience with Oracle database administration is a plus.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and database performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g. Azure SQL AWS RDS) is preferred.
- Understanding database security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Experience with backup recovery and high-availability solutions (e.g. Always On clustering and replication).
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate) are desirable.

Physical Requirements:
- Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (typing filing etc.).
- Sit for extended periods.
- Lift up to 2040 pounds of equipment or supplies as needed.
- Operate standard office equipment (computer phone copier etc.).
