Job Summary

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the implementation maintenance and optimization of the organizations database systems with a primary focus on SQL Server environments. The DBA ensures data integrity security and availability supporting business operations and compliance requirements. Experience with Oracle databases is highly desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Install configure and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud-based).
Monitor database performance tune queries and optimize indexes for maximum efficiency.
Implement and maintain database security backup and recovery strategies.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues including performance bottlenecks and data integrity problems.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments query optimization and upgrades.
Automate routine database tasks using scripting (T-SQL PowerShell or similar).
Assist with Oracle database administration as needed (installation patching monitoring and troubleshooting).
Familiarity with storage arrays and their use in managing backing up and refreshing workloads.
Document database environments processes and procedures.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents as required.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
35 years of experience administering SQL Server databases in a production environment.
Experience with Oracle database administration is a plus.
Proficiency in T-SQL and database performance tuning.
Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g. Azure SQL AWS RDS) is preferred.
Understanding database security best practices and compliance requirements.
Experience with backup recovery and high-availability solutions (e.g. Always On clustering and replication).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate) are desirable.
