Your Impact
This role is central to delivering high-quality live race day broadcasts that power Trackside and online viewing directly shaping the customer experience. As an Outside Broadcast Operator youll play a hands-on role in capturing and producing seamless real-time coverage. From camera work to sound vision control and replays your work ensures every moment is broadcast clearly accurately and professionally.
Its a varied multi-skilled role where youll work across different broadcast functions alongside the OB team in a live racing environment. Your impact is immediate and visible supporting smooth consistent coverage that keeps audiences connected informed and immersed in the race day experience.
A Day in the Life
Based in Dunedin this part-time role (20 hours per fortnight) involves travel across the South Island from Christchurch to Invercargill. Its a dynamic position with a flexible schedule including weekdays weekends some public holidays and occasional late nights. Heres a snapshot of your day:
- Set up operate and pack down cameras and broadcast equipment for race day events.
- Work across multiple broadcast functions including camera sound vision and replay support.
- Collaborate with the OB team to deliver smooth high-quality live coverage.
- Follow direction from the OB Director to capture and broadcast live racing action.
- Monitor and test equipment to ensure consistent technical and broadcast standards.
- Identify report and assist in resolving equipment or technical issues
Your Strengths
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to follow direction.
- Good physical fitness and stamina with a full drivers license (Class 2 preferred).
- Understanding of audio/vision equipment or willingness to learn.
- Experience in a broadcast or operational role (desirable).
- Interest or experience in NZ horse racing (preferred).
