Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job is to transport medications from the pharmacy to the medication rooms while adhering to daily delivery schedules. This position ensures the integrity and security of medications during transportation keeps accurate records of deliveries follows established delivery schedules and gathers hospital isolation trash and transport to vendor pickup point times this position may also transport physically or mentally ill patients and the staff that accompany them and transport supplies food equipment donated items mail medication and lab specimens. All transports shall be in a safe timely dignified and professional manner utilizing various types of vehicles such as vans buses passenger cars and position is designated as Emergency Essential and expected to report for work or remain at the work site to continue agency operations during an emergency closing situation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: None.

Note:

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience as a non-commissioned officer in Vehicle Operationsclassifications or Motor Transport or Vehicle Operations specialtycodes in the passenger transporting field of work on a year-for-yearbasis for the required experience.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees must possess or obtain a Class C non-commercial drivers license valid in the State of Maryland.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which involve the operation of large passenger vehicles. Employees assigned theseduties will be required to possess a drivers license of the appropriateclass valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification will be required to successfullycomplete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation violence management and basic first aid training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and therefore maybe required to provide the employer with a telephone number wherethey can be reached.

2. Some positions in this classification may be assigned duties whichrequire the employee to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission.

3. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09 Testing forIllegal Use of Drugs.
